This necklace was made in honor of the Egyptian goddess Hathor. Hathor was the Egyptian goddess of love similar to the Greek’s love deity Aphrodite. In her role as goddess of beauty, she was the patron of cosmetics. Wearing cosmetics was seen as a form of worship to Hathor, and offerings of mirrors or cosmetic palettes to her were common. Every year, her statue would be carried in a boat to Edfu to be reunited with Horus. A festival celebrating their union would then begin.
This piece features a stunning flashy circular rare purple labradorite that is set in solid copper with hand forged 17 inch long chain and features wire wrapped rose quartz beads. Pendant measures 2.75 inches long with bail.
